Katrina wants to understand how the student represents themselves in their writings and how the school guidelines affect them. Therefore, Katrina has divided the students self representation into three different stages, reproducing dominant discourses, resisting dominant discourses, and negotiating the tension.

It is a common notion that we as people surround ourselves with people we are like, or how we wish to represent ourselves. My peers use the comical Rasta genres we are like old beach bums just wanting to have a little fun and live life
